My Arvest Purchasing Visa credit card had actually been my favorite credit card I have ever had. Also, Arvest makes it very easy to access information regarding my card use and purchases online. I have had this card for almost three years now and I love it. The one thing I kind of have not liked about the card itself is that basically everybody that banks at Arvest gets the exact same looking card. I know this can be changed, but I do not know if this will cost me extra money to be able to have a personalized credit card. However, overall, I really like my Visa card from Arvest. Aren’t most, if not all, credit cards for purchasing? One would think, which is why the Arvest Bank Purchasing Credit Card seems kind of weird, but hey, let’s check out the details of the offer to see whether the name makes any more sense. First of all, the Arvest Bank Purchasing Card requires excellent credit for approval and does not have an annual fee. This in and of itself is kind of odd because credit cards for excellent credit that people plan to make purchases with a lot often have annual fees to compensate for the extra rewards they offer. Adding to this confusion is the fact that the Arvest Purchasing Card does not offer rewards. It’s therefore not going to be that beneficial a card for making most purchases, and the meaning of its name has to come from its interest rates. Well, Arvest Bank’s Purchasing Credit Card offers 0% on purchases and balance transfers for six months. Really? That’s it? Zero percent for six months is actually on the low end of the spectrum for credit cards for excellent credit, so it really doesn’t make sense to call this card the Purchasing Card. Perhaps Arvest Bank merely wants you to “purchase” their credit card. Or maybe people getting it allows their executives to “purchase” some expensive toys. Who knows?
What we do know is the fact that you need some options to the Arvest Bank Purchasing Credit Card because it’s obviously not going to cut it. If you want a card with which to make everyday “purchases” and you have excellent credit, it really depends on your spending habits, but a notable option is the Blue Cash Everyday from American Express, as it offers 3% cash abck at grocery stores, 2% at gas stations and department srores, and 1% everywhere else. For those who like to travel, the Capital One Venture Card offers what amounts to 2% cash back across all purchases, as long as you redeem miles for travel related purchases (plus Alec Baldwin is the man). If you want a long 0% rate in order to make significant “purchases” and pay them off over time without interest, Citi offers three different cards with 0% rates on purchases and balance transfers for 18 months. Any of these cards would certainly suit your needs better than the Arvest Purchasing Card.
