Poor customer service, does not hold a candle to AMEX. Terrible support for fraudulent charges. No response whatsoever when I disputed their determination that a charge was valid. If you have a fraudulent charge you are out of luck with Barclay.

I had this card for 7 years and just recently closed it…only due to the annual fee of $89.00. I just couldn’t justify it. I kept the card for a few years paying the annual fee but not using the card due to me having other cards with better rewards. I will say that my overall experience with Barclay’s was one of the best as far as customer service goes. Every single time I called in to want a CLI they obliged. They would ask me why I needed it and what was my payback plan and I kept in line with that plan every single time. I would ALWAYS request along with the CLI, a certain number of months to payback with zero interest and they also obliged on that every time also. I would always pay it back before the zero interest time was up, thereby borrowing their money for free. I would certainly recommend this card to anyone who’s looking to build their credit with a company that greatly works with their customers. This was one of the very first credit cards I put in my wallet and started with a $1500 limit and quickly climbed to $25,000. Mind you, it happened by me being pro active and working on it and gaining their trust. But out of all the cards I have in wallet (17) Barclay’s is the absolute best at CLI and offering deals with zero interest. Again, I only closed it because over time as my credit got better (now @ 825) I got better cards with better Rewards offers @ zero annual fees.

If you experience fraud, Barclay Arrival is not like other credit card companies. When they saw that a tracking number was provided for the goods, but it was in a completely different state than my home, the agent told me that this was my problem that I processed the transaction. When I explained that the problem with the tracking number, the agent said in one sentence "did you call US Postal Service; of course you did not". Worst customer service of any credit card company that I've dealt with.

I'm so incredibly disappointed. I have had my credit card with Barclay for over 8 years. $17000 credit limit and we use it frequently. We used Barclay for much of our European travel that was planned in April which was obviously canceled because of covid-19. All of the travel purchased was full refund, bought at a premium. When the tour companies and train operators didn't honor their full refund policies I filed a fraud report. At first I got a credit for the charges while they "investigated." It turns out an investigation is just they ask a for a letter from the merchant saying that they should keep the money. The merchants sent those letters. The train operator from Switzerland lied and said they spoke with me and that I agreed to a partial refund. Why would I do that? So the Barclay operator tells me I need to provide documentation showing that I did not speak with them. How in the hell would I have documentation for a call that didn't happen? Here we are, 3 months after the travel couldn't take place and Barclay is telling me they are going to side with the merchants and I get to pay another $2000+ for full refundable tickets that the merchants wouldn't offer refunds because 1. the tour company completely fabricated their refund policy to keep the money 2. the rail company either wouldn't respond or would yell at me in german. Buying tickets didn't take lot of effort to speak in English, but refunds are apparently only conducted in whatever language you don't speak. The first operator spoke french and when I put my wife on (she speaks french) the operator switched to german. SBB train system through Switzerland just being thieves, and Barclay is playing along. The stupid part is SBB and the tour company have to accept credit cards. Barclay can force me to pay for this fraudulent activity of theirs and the merchants (you sell buyer protection and then don't actually protect the buyer from fraud, you are in fact practicing fraud yourselves. I will switch credit cards and my wife and I will never travel to Europe because we cannot bring ourselves to give more money to the same sham companies (you too, KLM) a second time to see a place for the first time. This whole debacle will cost us about $6,000 in unrefunded refundable tickets. I'm not disillusioned into thinking that another credit card company wouldn't do the same (capital one did exactly the same thing) but I won't use either all the same, and we won't put ourselves in this situation for the rest of our lives.

I have an excellent credit, between all of my credit cards I have over $80000 credit line. What I am going through right now is unbelievable ! They advertised a 0% APR for balance transfer on my arrival card which I wasn’t using a lot recently so I decided to use the offer. My biggest mistake was to do it over the phone. First of all, you need to know that unless you escalate an issue or demand to be transferred, your call will be handled offshore by reps in Asia. Most of the time it is very difficult to understand them and what’s worse is they often don’t understand what you need. I gave them very specific instructions on where and how to transfer the money. Spelled out all the number several times. Long story short, the sent the money to a wrong address. I realized something is wrong because typically other balance transfers are completed within 3 business days. On 4th day I called and asked them to take a look at all the details of transaction as I didn’t think it was correctly done. They simply refused or didn’t understand what I wanted. This went on for 6 more days where I would call every day and hear the same answer- “ it takes 7-10 business days” . Not a single one of them would bother to take a look at the details! On 10th day I’ve had enough and demanded the call to be transferred to US. They finally did and the second round of misery started. One after another their managers would call me only to recap what I discussed with different reps in the past, not a single one offering any actual resolution other then promising to escalate and make notes on the account. Apparently for balance transfer issues, even when the mistake is made by their own employees, with escalations it takes them 30(!!!) days to get back with just a response essentially confirming that it was in fact transferred to a wrong account. Total resolution timeline is 60 days for them to return the money back to the account. It’s just the worst feeling of being completely helpless and nothing anyone can do ! This is going on for 25+ days now. Money was taken from my account, sent to wrong address, I am short on my balance and have to pay the statement on a balance which I don’t own !!! Just ridiculous!!.
Do yourself a favor - stay away from Barclaycard and also tell everyone you know to stay away !

I experienced the worst ever customer service with Barclays. I used the arrival plus card for a carpet cleaning service, in which the company made my carpet MORE DIRTY and left before I was able to check. I disputed the transaction with Barclays. A month later barclays sent me a mail saying that they are standing the merchant's side because the merchant sent them some signed document. THIS IS RIDICULOUS because the whole point of having REAL HUMAN BEINGS sitting at the dispute department instead of having some machines is that THEY SHOULD UNDERSTAND THE CASE AND USE THEIR JUDGEMENT TO DECIDE WHETHER THE SERVICE IS DELIVERED. In my case the carpet cleaning company made me sign some document BEFORE the service and left before I was able to check the work and made my carpet MORE DIRTY which is clear to any reasonable person that they DID NOT DELIVER THE SERVICE. I am amazed that what barclays' dispute department does is just looking for any signed document and if there is they say the merchant wins. I am not paying $95 a year for non-existence of service. i hope nobody ever have to deal with this.

I purchased products on the internet and didn’t receive them. You would think they would take my side on this and instead they took the merchants side and i had to pay for items NOT received. Its Inconceivable that a credit card company have such terrible customer service.

Was lead into believing that they would approve anyone with a score of 640 or higher with TU. However, my score was 680 and they rejected me. I have one negative and one mortgage (on time payments) 40,000 equity available, 12 other credit cards all with zero balances, two auto loans, one paid off and owe a small amount on the second one and have 8,000 in equity on it. I was rejected because I had a late three years ago and that was stated on the rejection letter I received.

Worst card and service in industry!! After 3 years, they lowered my credit limit out of the blue one day from $7k to $3k. I have a solid 680-710 score from month to month depending on balances, not a single blemish anywhere, and an Amex and several Citi cards with $15k limits. In the month prior to Barclaycard lowering my limit to $3k, I made a $1200 payment to them to pay off a promotional balance transfer before it expired. In the month they lowered my limit, I made a $300 payment. By lowering my limit, they caused this card to go from under 50% utilization to over 90% utilization which tanked my credit score by 20 points. It was already a worthless card and Barclaycard went the extra mile to make it useless and dangerous. I emailed customer service and "a manager" called me the next day to explain the bank could do whatever they want, whenever they want, without any notice to me. Stay away from this card and bank altogether.
