When I called Discover to find out if they can match the 1.5% cash back that Capital One is offering with their Quicksilver card, I not only found out that Discover cannot match Capital One's bonus but also that my Discover Card Platinum Card is now called Discover More Card. The name change is insignificant; however, very significantly, Discover CHANGED MY CASH BACK BONUS from 1% of ALL purchases to 0.25% of all purchases (until I spend $3,000 per cycle when I will receive 1% of cash back on the amount I spend ABOVE $3,000). In other words, at some point in the 34 years that I have had and used a Discover Card, Discover changed the plan... WITHOUT LETTING ME KNOW!! I read all of my statements and the documents sent pertaining to the card. While it's certainly possible that I missed something in the very fine print, it's clear that Discover was trying to dupe its long-term customers by putting this change in very fine print!

So, if you have had a Discover card for more than a couple of years, CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE NOW to find out what your cash back bonus is. If you have a Discover More card, they likely have cheated you out of hundreds - or even thousands - of dollars by changing the cash back bonus from 1% to 0.25% of purchases without you knowing.

There are pros and cons for the discover card. One of my cons has been the reliability of their customer service system. Historically, my wife has paid all of the bills but as her age ( and mine) have advanced, I find that her memory has diminished significantly and I now must verify that she has paid the bills. She pays our bills by check on the 1st of the month and the account closes on the fifth so we technically pay the following month on the 1st of the month.

I call Discover Card Customer Service and request “payment history” on the 20-25 of the month to verify the payment h. I frequently get the wrong amount, both for the payment history and the amount due. This is especially true when a payment is pending or has recently been paid. It appears that the Discover Card software algorithm takes the most recent payment on the account and subtracts that amount from the balance due at the beginning of the month and reports that amount as the new balance due.

Because of this software glitch, I have scheduled payments when none were due. Sometimes the payment will go through but other times the system will delete the payment because it exceeds the balance due. So you have to check your bank account to make sure that the payment has been processed.

It’s a minor problem but one that affects an aging population and it could be addressed if Discover Card chose to do so. Perhaps the proposed changes at the US Federal Reserve will make this a mute point as payment are being processed in real time and not delayed.

I've had discover for over 3 years now and I gotta say it's my favorite card I have. The multiple cash back options are very nice and the layout of the site is incredible. Very clean and smooth. From paying my bill to changing my address is very easy. I would highly recommend this card to anyone who is looking for a new credit card.

We got this card because we had very little credit and needed to build some new credit for the purpose of buying a house. The approval process was very quick and included an 18 month interest free time frame. We used it initially to buy a new washer and dryer and paid it off before the promotional period expired. We love the customer service we've received the few times we had questions. They send us our credit scores monthly, they review our account and provide increases periodically, and it's accepted just about everywhere. We've really enjoyed having the card and would recommend it to anyone!

I got this card because it has no fee and gives cash back. No improvement needed I just wish more businesses accepted. Customer service is good.

Recently had an incident where I had to deal with customer service. there was a charge on my account I had not made. I could not have been happier with the results! Discovers fraud protection team immediately shut down my card went through two months worth of charges with me to ensure they got any and all fraudulent charges reversed and immediately issued me a new card with a new card number. The whole process was incredibly painless for me and I was more than impressed

I have had almost no issues with this card at all. Paying my bill is very easy, and the cash back bonuses are above standard. I haven't had to deal with customer service yet, but I consider that a good thing. I would overall recommend this card to anyone who needs a card to use for general purchases.

I have had this card for many years now. I do love their cash back bonuses because I use this card often for everyday purchases and then pay it off. I have gotten gift cards from the bonuses and one time when I was in a bind I used it as a part of my payment which is a nice option! I even used one of the gift cards as a present for Christmas one year! They seem to have good customer service. I have never really had to deal with them much, only when I had my wallet stolen and had to cancel the card. They dealt with that situation quite efficiently and was able to get my card back out to me quickly. Good card for someone starting off and maybe trying to build credit.

I have had the Discover More card for a few years now. I really love the different categories available for the Cashback bonus.

I have been with Discover for over a year now, they helped me when other agencies turned me down (due to no prior credit history). Discover has helped me out of many binds when I reached out to Customer Service, and the Cash Back bonuses are very relevant to my life (movies, restaurants, different establishments each month). The use of online bill pay is very resourceful and the balance every month is very manageable. Overall Discover is a great starting card to obtain, it has helped me move and adapt into the material world.
