The
Ulta Credit Card is a good credit card for frequent Ulta shoppers who have a good or excellent credit score of 700+. This card is worth getting because it has a
$0 annual fee and good rewards, but you need to pay the bill in full by each due date in order to avoid interest charges. Having to pay interest would skew the value proposition against you.
What I Like About the Ulta Credit Card
Bonus Rewards & No Annual Fee
The
Ulta Credit Card is a
$0 annual fee rewards credit card that can save you money on Ulta Beauty products and services. It offers 20% off your first Ulta purchase made with the card, plus ongoing rewards of 2 points per $1 spent at Ulta.
Rewards on non-Ulta Purchases
The Mastercard version of the Ulta Credit Card also gives 500 bonus points for spending
$500 outside of Ulta Beauty in the first
90 days and 1 point per $3 spent on non-Ulta purchases normally.
Valuable Points
Ulta Credit Card points are pretty valuable, worth 3 cents to 6.25 cents each, depending on how many you redeem. Redeeming 100 points gets you $3 off, for example, while 250 points equal $8 off, 500 points are worth $17.50 and so on – all the way up to 2,000 points for $125 off.
Cardholders can also earn elite status and increased rewards rates by spending at least $500 in a calendar year.
Option for Applicants With Fair Credit
If you have less-than-good credit, you’re not out of luck. You could still save on beauty products with the
Ulta Store Card. You’ll only be able to use it for Ulta purchases, but that’s the main reason to get an Ulta Card in the first place.
What I Don’t Like About the Ulta Credit Card
High APR
The biggest downside of the
Ulta Credit Card is its high APR. It’s much higher than average, per our database of 1,500+ credit card offers, and the interest charges you’d have to pay if you carried a balance from month to month would quickly wipe out your savings from rewards. To make sure the card is worthwhile, you need to pay the full
statement balance each month.
No Guarantee You’ll Get the Mastercard
You can’t specifically apply for either the Ulta Mastercard or the store credit card version of the offer. You will first be considered for the Mastercard, which requires good credit at a minimum, so you’ll need a 700+ credit score for good approval odds. If you don’t qualify for the Ulta Mastercard, you will then be considered for the Ulta store credit card, which is generally available to people with credit scores of 640+.
This isn’t that big of a deal, considering both cards have good Ulta rewards. But if you want to earn Ulta savings wherever you shop, that may or may not be possible.
