The easiest way you can cancel your Marriott credit card is either through your online account or by calling the number you see on the back of your card. However, the exact methods depend on the issuer of your card, as both Chase and American Express issue Marriott credit cards.
How to Cancel Your Marriott Credit Card
Online.
- If the issuer is Chase: Log in to the Secure Message Center. Next, choose “New message” and submit a request that your card be canceled.
- If the issuer is Amex: Log in to your account and use the “Chat” icon at the bottom right of the page to speak to a customer service representative. Then, ask them to cancel the card for you.
Over the phone.
- If the issuer is Chase: Call customer service at (800) 945-2000 and enter your card number to verify your identity. Then, follow the prompts to speak to a customer service representative, and let them know you want to cancel.
- If the issuer is Amex: Call customer service at (800) 528-4800 and enter your card number and Social Security number to verify your identity. Then, follow the prompts to be connected to a live representative.
Keep in mind that the representative may offer you a retention bonus to keep you on as a customer, but you can simply decline the offer and proceed with canceling the account.
By mail.

You can cancel your Marriott credit card by mail if the issuer is American Express. To do so, send your written request to cancel the card to:
