The Citi Double Cash Card changed its rewards from cash back to points in March 2022. While cardholders still earn 2% back on all purchases, the rewards are now Citi ThankYou Rewards points that can be redeemed for cash back as a statement credit, direct deposit, or check. Plus, you can also earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked with Citi Travel.
Citi ThankYou Rewards points are worth 1 cent each when you redeem them for cash back, travel or gift cards. These redemption options will get you the highest value for your points. You can also apply your rewards toward purchases at Amazon.com, among other options, but you’ll likely get less value.
Also in March 2022, the Citi Double Cash Card dropped its $25 minimum redemption amount for statement credits and direct deposits to just 1 cent. You can also redeem rewards for a check by mail, with a $5 minimum.
