2026 Barclays Personal Loan Review
Barclays personal loans are available only to people who are invited to apply, at least for right now. People who are invited will have the opportunity to get an excellent loan, however, as Barclays offers inexpensive APRs ranging from 7.99% - 20.99%, according to third-party sources. On top of that, the origination fee is 0% and the late fee is $0. Barclays does not disclose APRs, terms, or amounts for personal loans, as they are available by invitation only.
Overall, Barclays personal loans are an attractive option for people with good or excellent credit. It is a bit harder to qualify for a loan from Barclays than it is to qualify for loans from most competing lenders. You’ll reportedly need a credit score of at least 700, which is at least 40 points higher than what a lot of other lenders require.
Barclays Personal Loan Review Highlights:
Availability: Invitation only
APRs:7.99% - 20.99%
Origination fee:0%
Late fee:$0
Funding time:A few business days after approval
Loan sizes:$5,000 - $35,000
Payoff periods:36 - 60 months
Requirements:700 credit score, SSN, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, 18+ years old.
Reputation: Barclays receives an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and the company has an average user rating of 3.7/5 on WalletHub.
Co-applicants: Not allowed

If you don’t have the good credit required to get the Banana Republic Visa, don’t worry. The Banana Republic Store Credit Card offers all of its best features, including a 15% first-purchase discount; ongoing rewards in the form of 5% back on all Banana Republic-family purchases; and the lack of an annual fee. The only things it lacks with respect to the Visa version are the ability to make purchases at unaffiliated merchants and earn the market average of 1% back in doing so. The only area in which the Banana Republic Store Card doesn’t shine is financing. It doesn’t offer low promotional rates for the first few months your account is open — only a high 25.24% regular APR from the start. You should therefore always pay your Banana Republic Store Card bill in full. More information about this offer can be found in our full-length Banana Republic Credit Card review: https://wallethub.com/edu/banana-republic-credit-card-review/25980/. If you would like to check your credit score to see which Banana Republic card you are likely to be approved for, you can do so for free on WalletHub, the first and only site to offer free credit scores and full credit reports that are updated on a daily basis.
@mduarte18 I'm sorry this happen to you ..I've been a loyal paying account holder..never a late fee, never late payments..low balances with high
Available limits..they closed 15 accounts half of those 0 balances..the highest one was 1200..but my limit was 13,000...so still considered low..I'm in shock..

@pburnley1 This happen to me today. They closed my gas card with 0 balance and 500 dollar limit. Also took my other card from a 3000 limit to 700. This is crazy out of nowhere. I am afraid this may affect my credit.

If you are building your credit this IS NOT the company you want to get a card with. I have made ALL of my payments early or on time and I had three cards with them - Sam's Club, Discount Tire, and Mattress Firm. I paid off Discount Tire and they CLOSED it without telling me and after I tried to get new tires is when I found out
I paid down my balance on my Sam's card and they lowered my limit from $1200 down to $800 (so the $400 I paid means nothing now) and they did the same with the Mattress Firm card so not my credit report shows the cards maxed out which makes my score even lower!

The Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard is one of the best credit cards for fair credit, offering a potentially no-cost option for qualified applicants to continue their credit-building efforts while enjoying rewards that are above average for the credit-card market as a whole. This card is best for people with fair credit who always pay their monthly bill in full and don’t make many purchases from internationally based merchants. That’s because it charges interest at an above-average rate and has a 3% foreign transaction fee.

Since I began using the Barclays JetBlue Credit Card, I thought there were some pro's to using the card vs other cards- mainly, keeping my travel and charges all under one umbrella so to speak. Meaning - charge flights via JetBlue and keep all e travel expenses together. Plus, I used the card to get added points to be used toward travel - I think you get the point. However, and this is a big deal to me - I was charged for a service that I didn't get... meaning someone stole from me - and Barclays JetBlue Credit card - let the vendor get away with it!! I cannot in good conscience, let Barclays side with a thief. That's a deal breaker for me. Never before has any other credit card company ever let an injustice succeed...yet Barclays did!! You see, it's not about using the card - and the bank makes money off of me - that's the easy part ... it's when there is a legitimate dispute, and your credit card company sides with the vendor who breaches their responsibility. If you can't trust your credit card company - then who can you trust!! Clearly not Barclays JetBlue Credit card!!
My card number has been stolen more than 3 times. Now the customer service is out of the US and it is horrible. I had to speak the security department that left me on hold for over 45 minutes and hang up the call near 5pm the time the department closes. After 3 call attempts I was able to connect with security dept and was told my card would be cancelled, a new one mailed and they will investigate some activity that appears to be fraudulent. They couldn't tell me what charges were done and my access online was blocked. This week I have received calls and messages asking for a payment on the account letting me know that I am behind on the payment. How they expect me to pay? First I don't have access to the account for over 2 weeks, I have not received a statement on the mail, and I am not sure what charges are they billing me. It is completely ridiculous. This organization was very good, my first years I was impressed, now I just want to cancel my accounts and run away from them. The rewards are not worth the headache, and the time consuming efforts to get clarification from them. Stay away from Barclays.
US Barclays Credit Cards are the absolute WORST decision you could ever make no matter the rewards offered to open the card!
I have an excellent credit score and have lived at my address for over 4 years in the US! They approved me for a credit card with a high limit of $15k!
I began using the card within 3 days of receiving the card to quickly earn the rewards that I was entitled to! But I was flagged for absolutely no reason!
The absolute hassle to then verify your identity and where to send (or fax - who in 2026 has a fax machine????) is the absolute worst as a first time card holder! Never in my life again will I ever subject myself to opening a Barclays card again nor will I ever let any family member do it in the future! General Motors (GM) should be ashamed of themselves for making this decision to go with Barclays as their credit card partner!

This is the worst customer service I've seen in my life. I made a chargeback because the merchant never refunded my money after receiving a return, showed the proof of delivery and emails confirming receipt and Barclays resolution was against me because they showed a picture of the package in front of a door. I never said I did not receive it, my claim is that I returned it and they never credited my account. To continue with the claim and get my money back, Barclays asked me to send a "FAX" to a number that did not work. I've been working with this for 3 days now and, at this point, I think I will better to lose the money than keep fighting with the powerful corporations.

I'd think twice about buying anything with a JetBlue credit card. I tried to dispute a charge from a merchant, and they railroad you and close it without due time for processing. I returned an item and the merchant acknowledged in writing that they received the return but that it could take months (3-4 mnths) to process it. JetBlue by Barclays asks you to mail in paper proof that they received the return. Within a week of that conversation they closed the case saying they haven't received proof yet. Yeah, that's because I had to mail it in. And then to reopen the case I have to mail in another physical letter requesting the case to be reopened. That can take 7-10 days after which I have to mail in copies of the proof again. Obviously the short time allowances and the request for items to be mailed in instead of taking email is all by design to screw the customer. I will never charge another thing on the JetBlue card. They do not have your back!!!!! I've disputed a few things with Citi and it was a breeze. Super super annoyed with JetBlue Barclays!
Takes 5 business days to apply a payment... anything over a $500.00 payment has a hold put on it. All their customer service is unable nor have the authority to do anything... even supervisors. Meanwhile they collect interest...

Barclay’s, the servicing bank for JetBlue Credit Cards, is the worst customer service we have ever experienced with a credit card over the decades we have been using credit cards! We got approved quickly, as our credit score is excellent. However, when trying to use it the first time to buy furniture online for delivery, we were denied. We got on the phone for over an hour- and they asked several highly qualifying security questions. They told us we need to pre-approve any online purchases over $2500. So we proceeded to try to charge an $800 tv for delivery, and again got rejected! We’ve sent a driver’s license, social security card, US passport, Tax return, utility bill- both in color and black and white and YET STILL, ALL THESE DOCUMENTS are NOT SUFFICIENT! Too light, too dark. So we sent copies by US mail - Now they want a birth certificate! JetBlue should realize how DIFFICULT Barclays has made it for customers to use the JetBlue credit card. If I could I would rate them -1 for the absolutely horrible customer service that we have experienced over the last 2 months in trying to USE our new JetBlue card.
My experience with this company and card have been beyond subpar. I have multiple credit cards with numerous companies and this has been by far the worst. I’ve barely had this credit card and they quickly froze my account due to “suspicious activity”. when I tried to verify my identification through questions they said I didn’t pass, even though I answered things correctly, there was a bit of a language barrier. I subsequently submitted my documentation, including photos of my license, Social Security card, and a bill. They have no online portal so It was done via mail, and it was not up to their standards and I was going to need to resubmit all the documentation again. I had to find this out by following up with them two weeks later. I am subsequently canceling this card and would highly recommend you go elsewhere for a credit card as this company as a whole has been an awful experience.
