Allstate has owned Direct Auto Insurance since January 2021, when Allstate bought its parent company, National General, for $4 billion. Direct Auto Insurance was acquired by National General in 2016, and both companies are now subsidiaries of Allstate.
Although Allstate owns National General and Direct Auto, the three brands operate independently, with Direct Auto specializing in non-standard insurance for high-risk drivers. Direct Auto offers several types of car insurance for high-risk drivers, including liability, comprehensive, and collision insurance.
