The
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature® is a good credit card for people with
fair credit or better who plan to spend $1,900 to $9,500 per year and pay the monthly bills in full. This card has good rewards, you see, but it also has a
$95 annual fee and a high APR.
For the card to save you more than it costs you and prove to be truly worthwhile, you’ll need to spend enough for the value of the rewards you earn to offset the cost of the annual fee. You’ll also need to avoid interest charges, which you can do by paying your full statement balance every month.
What I Like About the Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature®
Up to 5% Cash Back on PurchasesThe
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature® is best for people who spend around $5,000 per year on gas, groceries, mobile phone service, internet, and cable/satellite TV. It rewards you with
5% cash back on the first $5,000 you spend in total across those categories each year.
That
5% earning rate is around five times higher than most cards will give you. However, most purchases you make with the
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature® that don’t qualify for the bonus rate will get you just
1% back, which is about average.
Available to People With Fair CreditRewards cards with eye-catching earning rates usually require good credit or better for approval.
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 bucks that trend by requiring just
fair credit.

640 or higher.
Helps You Improve Your Credit ScoreIf you always pay the monthly bills by the due date and you avoid maxing out your spending limit, positive information about your
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 account will be relayed to the major credit bureaus each month. This will add to your credit history and should improve your credit score as long as you manage the rest of your finances responsibly.
What I Don’t Like About the Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature®
$95 Annual FeeOne year with the
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 will cost you the same amount as several years with the average credit card. That doesn’t mean you can’t get your money’s worth, but it does mean that shopping around for an equally rewarding card with lower fees is a wise move.
29.24% (V) APRThe
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 Visa Signature® is not a good option for paying off big purchases over the course of several months. Its interest rate is far too high for that. Credit card rates are very high in general, and even the average APR among credit cards for people with
fair credit is much lower than what the
Credit One Bank® Platinum X5 card offers.
