I held this account for 37 years with Exxon. It was a reliable go-to when needed, and I was happy to have the card. I was so disappointed when they wouldn't renew my card. For 37 years, all payments were on time. I was not able to get a hold of a 'human' to discuss this. It was just cancelled. I still owe $87 and have been paying it off with some hope that maybe they would reconsider and reopen the account. I don't really need it, but it would be helpful for my credit rating or if an emergency came up.

I didn't really need a gas card. It was my 1980s model brain that just thought I did because gas charge cards were the thing back then. I didn’t know much about credit at the time i applied for it. I have a cash back credit card that gives me 5% cash back on gas purchases. My Exxon SmartCard takes 10 cents a gallon off, It is better for me to use my regular credit card for 5% cash back on gas purchases than a 10 cent per gallon rebate. If gas ever falls below $2 a gallon, I will use my Exxon card. My credit limit on this card is $1000, and I've had the card for 3 years, so I just use the card infrequently just to keep it open. If I were to close it, or if the company closed it, my score would take a hit. Im not taking out a mortgage, a student loan, or a car loan so my credit score is a moot point. They don’t charge you much for cash advances tho. Ask yourself how badly you need a closed-loop store card or a general-purpose credit card.

10 cents off per gallon. It's ok! Overall not a bad card just don't know how to get more rewards. Maybe need to look for a better gas card.

I got remorseful after getting this card. I decided to try it once just for the heck of it. I paid at the pump one day and I watched the price per gallon on the pump roll back I did the math and the savings I got using this card beats my 2% cash rewards general purpose credit card!! They raised my charge limit after the first month. No problem keeping my payments up as I can pay by phone. It's still a gas card but that's where a lot of my money goes. By using this card I also take the load off my other cards.

Gas prices are a little high, but with the discount it averages out. It's also nice that they keep an eye out if the card is used somewhere else.

8 years and they decide to close my account without warning. The same day I get approved for credit increases and loan at other places. Unbelievable, I cant believe I managed all through unemplyment and COVID-19 in 2020. So dissappointed !!

Not the best low credit, but gets me by. High payments. I don't save on this card, I only use it as my last resort. All in all not terrible.
