The
West Elm Store Card is a good credit card to apply for if your credit score is
640 or higher and you like to shop at West Elm, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Rejuvenation, and Mark & Graham. It’s worth getting this card because it gives 5% back on purchases and doesn’t charge an annual fee.
5 Key Things to Know About the West Elm Store Card
Nice, yet unimpressive bonuses.
You will receive
10% back for the first 30 days when you use your card at West Elm or at any of the eight family brands after being approved for the
West Elm Store Card, as well as $25 in additional credit each year on your birthday. That’s obviously nothing to scoff at, but it does bear noting that you can get more upfront from other
store credit cards.
Excellent ongoing rewards…if you choose wisely.
The
West Elm Store Card gives you a choice:
0% interest for
12 months on a purchase of $750+ or 5% “cash” back on every purchase made at West Elm, Williams Sonoma, Williams Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, Rejuvenation, and Mark & Graham. This should be a no-brainer.
You can get
0% for at least
12 months from literally hundreds of other credit cards, according to WalletHub’s database, but that is not the case with rewards equal to 5% of what you spend. Those are more unique, so opt for the rewards. If you really need 0% financing, you can get a better deal with a general-purpose credit card.
High APR normally.
If you carry a balance from month to month with this card when its regular APR is in effect, you will quickly rack up some expensive interest charges. Those interest charges will cost you a lot more than the card’s rewards will save you.
The good news is that you can avoid interest by paying your bill in full every month. If you do that, the card is worth owning.
Fair-credit requirement.
The
West Elm Store Card is available to applicants with fair credit or better, which means it’s relatively easy to get. Nevertheless, it’s still a good idea to
check your credit score for free on WalletHub before submitting an application.
If you have a credit score of
640 or higher, you have a good chance of getting approved for the West Elm Store Card. If your score is 700+, you might even qualify for the
West Elm Credit Card, which you can use anywhere
Visa is accepted.
No annual fee.
Without an annual fee to worry about, you won’t feel pressured to shop at West Elm more than you would otherwise. The lack of an annual fee also makes the
West Elm Store Card about
$27.85 per year cheaper than the average credit card iffer.
