The newest Amex cards are best suited for frequent travelers, as well as people who spend a lot on dining and groceries. You also need at least good credit to qualify for the newest Amex cards, and being able to comfortably meet the spending requirement for an initial bonus is important, too.
The newest Amex card is the American Express Platinum Card®. Although this card has been on the market for years, it was refreshed in September 2025. It offers 1 - 5 points per $1, depending on the type of purchase and charges an annual fee of $895. The Business Platinum Card® from American Express was also refreshed at the same time.
