The American Express tickets benefit gives American Express card customers access to presale and reserved tickets, as well as preferred seating. Presale and reserved tickets allow all American Express cardholders to buy tickets for a variety of events before they go on sale to the general public. For preferred seating, venues reserve certain seats exclusively for American Express card customers. Preferred seating applies only to some Amex cards.
Notable Amex Cards That Are Eligible for Preferred Seating
All presale ticket and reserved ticket purchases will ultimately go through the Amex Experiences portal, where you can also find specific event options. Preferred Seating is provided through Ticketmaster, giving you access to select seats for eligible shows.
American Express Tickets Benefit – Key Facts
- Account requirements:
You need both an Amex card and an Amex online account. - Ticket purchase process:
Tickets are sold through third-party vendors, and you’ll be redirected to the website that sells the ticket during checkout. - American Express Preferred Seating:
You can view eligible shows on Ticketmaster or search for one yourself. In the booking stage, click “American Express Preferred Seating” under “Ticket Type.” Pick a seat from the options shown. Then, log in to your Ticketmaster account to book. - American Express Presale & Reserved Tickets:
You can see what shows have American Express presales on the Amex Experiences platform or look for a show using the site’s search tool. The same goes for reserved tickets.
Reserved tickets are a set number of seats held specifically for American Express Card members to buy during a special access window.
The Amex Experiences portal is an exclusive perk given to all Amex card users (except for prepaid cards or gift cards). While you won’t get any kind of discount when you use a credit card, the ability to guarantee yourself a spot at popular events, ahead of the crowd, can be priceless. Plus, if you have a rewards card, you can earn rewards by charging the American Express tickets to your card.

I just used this feature to look at tickets for an upcoming concert. The american express preferred 'best seating' option was 4 rows behind the standard ticket exact same price, same section. So, the prices were the same but the american express preferred seating option got me worse seats. I've never had this feature actually help me.
