The Costco Anywhere Visa is in theory your best option. I say in theory because it's the most rewarding, but only if you spend $7,000 or less per year on gas. Otherwise, go with the Citi ThankYou Premier. There's no spending cap there.
Citi ThankYou Premier is a solid offering if you want to enjoy rewards on gas purchases. Well, not just gas - you get 3 points per $1 spent – roughly triple the market average for a rewards card – on all purchases that are categorized as travel-related. In addition to gas, that includes airfare, hotel reservations, cab fare and more.
The AAdvantage Platinum Select is a good option, but only find it rewarding if you fly AA a lot. Otherwise, just go for one of the two I mentioned above.
