The Milestone Credit Card is a good card card to consider if you have a below-average credit score and you don't want to put down a deposit. The Milestone Card can be worthwhile because it has a $0 security deposit requirement and it offers a $700 credit limit, which could make some emergency expenses a bit easier to handle.
Just keep in mind that a very high APR will apply to any balance that you carry from month to month. The Milestone Card’s annual fee is also very high compared to the average credit card offer, so you don’t want to need this card for too long.
4 Key Things to Know About the Milestone Credit Card
One of the best unsecured cards for bad credit
This label should be taken with a grain of salt because no unsecured credit card for bad credit is all that good. But if you absolutely need an emergency loan, as opposed to just a higher credit score, the Milestone® Mastercard® is one of the better options.
High fees
The Milestone Credit Card doesn’t charge one-time fees, which puts it in a good light relative to much of its competition. It does charge an annual fee of
$175 the first year, however. Starting the second year, the annual fee drops to
$49, and a monthly fee of $12.50 gets added to the mix at that point.
Provides limited spending power
Cardholders generally start with a $700 spending limit, which is effectively reduced to $525 by the first-year annual fee, assessed at account opening. If this amount is enough to satisfy your needs, then the Milestone Credit Card could be a good choice for you.
If not, you may want to get a secured credit card, which would reduce the cost of improving your credit score enough to qualify for a card with a higher spending limit in the future. 35.9% APR
The Milestone Card’s regular APR is a lot higher than the
21.87% APR charged by the average secured card, according to WalletHub’s latest
Credit Card Landscape Report. You should not carry a balance for any longer than necessary.
