The Discover it approval odds aren’t the same for every applicant. We recommend a 700+ credit score (which means at least good credit) to be eligible for most Discover it credit cards. There are, though, some Discover it credit cards that you may be eligible for if you have a lower credit score.
Generally, besides a certain minimum credit score, issuers require applicants to have enough income or assets to pay the bill, in light of the existing debt obligations. But each credit card company analyzes the data a bit differently.
Here are the credit scores we recommend for the Discover cards:
- Discover it® Secured Credit Card: Bad credit (below 640)
- Discover it® Student Cash Back: Limited History
- Discover it® Student Chrome: Limited History
- Discover it® Cash Back: Good (700+) credit
- Discover it® Miles: Good (700+) credit
- Discover it® Chrome: Good (700+) credit
- NHL® Discover it®: Good (700+) credit (the NHL® Discover it® is not currently available on WalletHub and may be out of date)
In general, the lower a credit card’s minimum credit score is, the higher your approval odds will be. If you don’t know your credit score, you can check it for free on WalletHub. WalletHub is the only website where credit scores and reports update daily.
Finally, keep in mind that the above credit scores are guidelines and they do not guarantee approval. Credit card issuers evaluate a variety of factors beyond your credit score when reviewing your application.

There's no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to credit card approval odds, but your best bet is to have really good credit. Definitely over 700.
