Their online application process is flawed. If it has problems verifying your identity, there is no recourse to resolve the issue or means to reapply. Their representatives can't even see why you were declined for "privacy" reasons, even when it's not for financial issues. The bottom line is there's no way to resolve the problem without waiting for a letter and then having to write them back and hope someone bothers to respond. Not a great way to do business.
They closed my account because I was trying to make only one payment of $250.00; it never showed up in my account, so I made another payment of $250.00 two more times, because each time it never showed the payment. The manager is extremely rude.
I wish I could give this bank zero stars! As a customer of PayPal, I was offered a Cashback Rewards Mastercard. I spent less than $500 but earned $60.87 in cashback. When I went to pay on my account, the system would not allow me to redeem this amount towards my balance. Upon calling Synchrony Bank, I was informed that my account was closed (not at my request) and that I forfeited the cashback rewards. This is totally unfair and looks like a scam to me as they draw you in to open the account, spend money, then close the account and cheat you out of any cashback rewards. Please stay clear of this PayPal offer and anything to do with Synchrony Bank. I am pursuing this issue as it's a matter of principle and feel that I'm not obligated to pay my balance due to this lack of integrity on the part of the bank holding up to its end of the deal. I had claimed my rewards points twice and never received them.
Do not bank with this company ever! I got a credit card with them last year through Lowe's and used it to purchase flooring for our house. I had a $4,000 limit and used roughly $3,000 of it for this project. I left what was available for future projects and made monthly payments to keep it in good standing. This year, I was attempting to pull a cash-out refinance on my home and needed a small boost to my credit score (it was in the low 700's and needed to be 720), so I paid off the card. Within two weeks of paying it off, Synchrony dropped my available credit from $4,000 to $100, which in turn dropped my credit score to the mid to high 600's. I now can't do the refinance on my home until I get my credit back up. This is the worst credit company I have ever dealt with; it should be 0 stars.

I've used both the Synchrony Car Credit and Care Credit cards for years. I've always been able to pay off the balances before having to pay interest, most often by paying the minimum required. Within the last year or so, however, things have changed.
First, not all promotional purchases are interest-free until the expiration date - some have had an interest rate applied from the beginning (although at 17.9% versus the 32.99% they charge if you don't pay off by the expiration date).
Second - and more disturbing - is that payments are often not applied to the promotional purchase that is expiring the soonest. For instance, I have a promotional purchase that expires at the end of this month. When I made a payment a few days ago, none of that payment was applied to that promotional purchase. Instead, it was applied to a promotional purchase that expires nearly a year later. Getting this resolved required calling them. I was told it may take several cycles to make the correction. Since this promotional purchase expires in a week, it's not clear whether or not I will be charged the deferred interest.
When I asked how to avoid this in the future, I was told to call them to make the payment rather than do it online.
I purchased furniture from a particular store, Rooms to Go. This company usually deals with Synchrony Bank, and I have had multiple problems with payments from Synchrony Bank twice, once last year because they charged me a late fee for paying too early. Instead of recognizing a payment on or before your due date, they will charge you a late fee. Last year, they did refund my late fee. However, this year the same thing happened. I paid 3 days early, and they charged me a late fee of $30.00. I had forgotten they charged me a late fee for paying early. I don't quite understand how this is legal. I've never had any problems or history of late payments. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor, and she didn't help. I asked her if she felt it was fair to charge me a late fee when I had made the payment prior to the 7th of February, the due date; I had made it on the 2nd or 3rd. She stated, "That's just how the company works." Well, I just want to warn people. Do not make your payments prior to your due date; otherwise, you will be charged a late fee. This cannot possibly be legal, and it isn't fair. Where is the $30 going? It's not helping me. It goes to Synchrony Bank. In my opinion, what an egregious scheme they have going! Lastly, the employee mentioned to me that they are only allowed to refund you once a year. So, in other words, if they make a mistake twice within a year, they are not going to assume responsibility. She actually told me since I was refunded last year due to the same mistake, this was why I could not be refunded the late fee this time. Neither time was I late; it was because I paid too early, so they count it as late. So, when I mention the word "scheme," it's no joke! What an easy way to collect money from people.

This is the worst company ever. Retail associates tell the customer one thing about their card, and the people who deal with payments on Synchrony's end do not honor what we are told. I have had so many issues with Synchrony, even though I pay my bills using autopay. Lowe's is the worst one with Synchrony. You cannot distinguish between purchases if you try to combine. For example, if you buy something in May using deferred interest and you buy something in December with deferred interest, their bill is so discombobulated and difficult to understand. Someone tried to explain the bill to me because I was charged interest, even though I made the payment. She had a hard time figuring it out but would not budge on giving me a break. I will rethink going to Lowe's for big purchases.
I have a love-hate relationship with QVC because of their prices. Here we are in March, and I'm still paying from $149 to $196 per Christmas wreath. Sometimes, I find a wreath on clearance for $69.99 and maybe $49.99. We are moving across the country to a very affluent area, but I'm buying holiday items now so that when we get there, I hopefully will not need very much as I have been decorating our home for each season and holiday, like Easter, the seasons, Christmas, etc.
Synchrony Bank as a whole is a joke. I had a Lowe's card issued by Synchrony for over two years with a $7,500 limit; they closed it without warning. Two weeks later, they reduced my Amazon credit from $1,500 to $450. I was never late on any payments. Avoid their nonsense and get a real credit card from a reputable company. Stay away from Synchrony.
Love Synchrony! All their sites are easy to navigate, and I love the promotions with deferred interest. It really helps me out financially. Thank you, Synchrony!

Do not get this card! After years of never missing a single payment, Synchrony just reduced my credit line by more than half. That crashed my credit score overnight. Their customer service agents are in India and barely speak English and don't understand how the American credit score system works. Stay away!

I have been with TJ Maxx for 2 years now, a favorite store of mine. The issue I have is with the credit card itself. When I get a $10 reward, it either disappears or the associate messes it up, and I can't get a refund even if I call the card number. Despite never being late and always paying early, they emailed me to inform me that they conducted a review on the amount of credit I have used, including my car and bank loan. They noted that I have a high amount of credit used and decided to close my account. This should not be an issue if I am not paying late and I am using my card responsibly. However, because they are concerned they won't receive payment on the very low credit limit they issued, they canceled my card.
This action will not reflect well on my credit score. So, if you're looking to build your credit or just want a fun credit card for TJ Maxx or Marshalls, my advice is to just pay with cash—don't bother yourself with this card. As for me, I will not bother shopping there anymore either. Being a shopper who spends $200 or more a month and having 16 grandchildren, that won't be happening anymore.
